FSM welcomes two new JICA Volunteers

jicaOn October 6th 2016, the FSM Department of Foreign Affairs welcomed two new JICA Volunteers to the Federated States of Micronesia. The new dispatched volunteers are Mr. Noriaki Murao (SV) for the division of Public Health at FSM Department of Health and Social Affairs, and Mr. Hirotaka Mori (JOCV) for Physical Education at the Yap Sports Council located in Yap. Mr. Murao will be contributing his pharmaceutical expertise to the Immunization Program under the Department of Health and Social Affairs, focusing mainly on vaccination of small children. On Yap, Mr. Mori will be dedicating his passion for physical fitness to train and prepare the young athletes of Yap for the upcoming Micro-Games 2018, with Yap as the host state.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been dispatching volunteers to the FSM since 1989. JICA Volunteers have been assisting in priority sectors of Education, Health, Environment, Agriculture, Fisheries, Tourism and other fields. Currently, 18 volunteers (8 Senior Volunteers [SV] and 10 Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers [JOCV]) are serving in the FSM including the new volunteers. Most of them will serve two years in their respective posts. The aim of the volunteer is to develop a better life for the local people and community.
