New JICA Volunteers to the FSM

On 7th of July 2016, FSM Department of Foreign Affairs welcomed two new JICA Volunteers to the Federated States of Micronesia who arrived on the 6th of July from Japan. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been dispatching volunteers into the FSM since 1989. JICA volunteers have been assisting in priority sectors of Education, Health, Environment, Agriculture, Fisheries, Tourism and other fields. Currently there are seventeen volunteers; 8 SV (Senior Volunteers) and 9 JOCVs
Mr. Brendy Carl Deputy Assistant Secretary from FSM Dept. of Foreign Affairs warmly welcomes JICA’s New Senior Volunteers to the Federated States of Micronesia.
(Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer), are serving in the FSM including the two new volunteers. Most of them will serve two years in their respective posts. This program is one of JICA’s principal activities as part of its international cooperation carried out on behalf of the Japanese government which contributes to the social and economic development of the Federated States of Micronesia.
The new dispatched group consists of two senior volunteers are assigned to work in Pohnpei. SV Ms. Kimura Kumiko is assigned to College of Micronesia Division of Health and Science and Ms. Akahoshi Asuka to College of Micronesia CRE (Cooperative Research & Extension). The two new volunteers are ready to embark on their new journey in the FSM. Best wishes to all new volunteers as they help promote sharing of technical knowledge and skills, as well as mutual understanding and friendship between the FSM and Japan.
