AUG 2016 - Pohnpei, FSM—The Rotary Club of Pohnpei, Inc. is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2016-2017 scholarship awards. The scholarships are awarded to FSM students attending university, and are to assist them in pursuing their dreams of a college education. With the assistance of Vital/Petrocorp, the club awarded a total of $11,250.00 in scholarships to 15 winners.
The winners selected are Jamilyn Lynnae Mooteb, Donna Pretrick, Dmetria Mtag, Richy Ropon, Annalyn Tareg, Shania Felix, Tyana Musrasrik, Zoya Goodwin, Armhel Pigao, Miranda Pugurwag, Mioni Samo, Marcy Kentun, Cheryll Ligohr, Roxanna Lawichfeg and Ramon Saletalir
Of the 15 winners, 14 are attending off island universities and 1 is attending COM-FSM.
We received many very competitive applications. It was a difficult decision to select the winning scholars, and with so many great applications we tried to select as many winners as possible. We also had to turn down some excellent candidates and we encourage them to reapply next year.
The Rotary Club has been awarding these scholarships since the early 2000’s and we are proud that it has built up to a sizeable amount being awarded each year. The money comes from some gracious support from Vital/ Petrocorp, and our own fundraising. Support our Chook raffles and fun run. Plus mark on your calendar Saturday, November 5 at Cupid’s Restaurant for our annual Quiz Night, known as the funnest night of the year by those who use bad grammar. The Rotary Club is also involved in many other community service projects, so your help from the public is always appreciated.
Good luck to all our scholars and we wish them every success in the coming school year.
